You know, it’s a bit sad how much the “childhood training sequences” rip off Dark Angel. Shite movie, entertaining games if you enjoy shooting people in the back of the head or dropping heavy objects on them, however.

I know I can’t say much as I haven’t seen the movie, but – judging from the trailers and the reviews I’ve read – I really don’t want to. I’m comparing it to the games I’ve played (2 & Blood Money) but given the strategic element (do you run in shooting or sneak around dressed as a henchman?) I always felt a film would be made in the style of Day of the Jackal with Edward Fox, a tense, slow-burning thriller focussing on Agent 47’s preparations in killing an exceptionally high-profile target. To have it turned into a simple off-the-shelf action movie with big names and the usual foul-up of a plot we’ve come to expect from modern films is both predictable and depressing.

you know, i actually liked Blood money (the first one i played) and could take or leave the others. they were fun and all but blood money was the only one that felt like they were even trying (i agree, basically a shitty 24/bourne whos-i-whatzis ripoff but hey, still the attempt is appreciated) and i even thought “hey maybe this wouldn’t be too awful to make into a movie”

and then i saw the trailer and thought much as spoony did “well, this might not suck, it seems like they stuck to the source material at least sort of…” and i almost wanted to see it. but i kept sort of staying away, my spidey sense tingling and repeating “they’ve never made a good video game movie, and they probably aren’t going to start now”

and it sounds like the little crazy man in my noodle was right. thanks for the heads up on this one, now i don’t have to hurt myself. you sold me at “guy who made swordfish” hahaha, totally all you had to say. that movie was to spy movies what Elektra was to comic movies. wrong headed, overblown, pointless, undeservedly self important, an embarrassment to all the actors involved, and generally made you feel guilty you were ever into the genre in the first place.

but now that you mention it…wow timothy olyphant does have one hell of a perfectly round skull…damn…do you suppose he sands or buffs it or something?

What bothers me with this movie is that in the games, they establish that 47 is a clone of a bunch of other guys in some weird manner, made for the sole purpose of killing people. However, in the movie they say that he was brought into The Organization at a young age. And by the way, it’s called The Company, not The Organization.

The problem with this is that it’s a movie based on a video game which is based on the American remake of a French film from 80’s. Why does this exist?

I saw the trailer and the first word that came out of my mouth was: NO! and that’s where it ended. I’ve been a big fan of Hitman, played them all but blood and money (it’s still in it’s wrapping, when I get the time). Frankly when I saw the trailer I was pissed, I felt it had nothing to do with hitman, don’t know about you, but to me hitman is a pretty cold killer. I stumbled on the movie one day only saw a few parts, I think I was on my PC, I noticed the part in the subway and yeah… when I was told what was going on, I didn’t get it too, I told myself WTF. It’s sad some games have good movie potential but they s*** all over it.

Just a side note, Aliens VS predator 2 video game had a better and more interesting story then both movies. Even if their was little of it. Sad so sad. (EPIC FAIL!)

if you cant be original, just xerox something classic and call it reminiscene to good old times …

Yea, you should have played Blood Money. The first few were like that, but blood money sort of furthered it to have a plot (and I thought a pretty good one). Plus, it is one of the few at least half decent attempts to make a proper stealth em up, awarding you for completing mission stealthily and not gunning everyone down (though if you were lazy you could still do that). I’m actually quite glad that there is little story in the first few…
