DVD Interactive menus do not always start at the time mark zero, and many have little annoying animations that they play when you hit the Select key before actually starting the movie. When we recorded these commentaries, we started at the exact 0:00:00 time frame according to the DVD player on our computer. We've notoriously had synchronization problems, because even a half-second off can make the jokes come too early or too late. Here's what we do:
Go to the chapter select menu of your DVD. Then start playing the commentary mp3 file, which will feature a countdown. 5...4...3...2...1...GO! On the exact count of GO, select Chapter 1 on the menu. This should start both the commentary and the DVD in sync at time code 00:00:00.

Alternatively, there is a new program available for free called Sharecrow that allows you to play any sound file as a commentary over the top of your DVD's main audio track. I find that it's a lot easier to use than trying to wrangle two separate audio programs or tuning it up with your iPod. Sharecrow controls both audio tracks from the same program and fiddle with separate volume controls for each so you can listen to it at your chosen comfort level. Please see the attached instructions below for specific details on how to use Sharecrow with this commentary.

You will know if your sound is
synchronized with mine if you hear this as among the first jokes.
Mrs. Murphy: “What's going on?? What's the matter? Who are you??”
T: I'm guessing they're cops.
Cop: "Knock it down. ”
T: Now we brought the battering ram; you should use it!
