The Spoony Experiment is going off the air indefinitely.
Dreamhost really jacked up the site and I don’t know if Scarlett can fix it. She’s brilliant but there might not be much she can do when some clown takes a fire axe to her templates and HTML.
So, fair warning. This ship is sinking. Scarlett will probably be taking the site offline as soon as tonight, and I don’t know when it’ll be back. If there are any forum posts you want to save, back them up yourself. I have no idea how this is going to turn out.
Edit: I know many of you are frustrated with what seems like bait-and-switching. There’s a lot going on in my life that you don’t know about, and because it all came up so suddenly, I decided to drop everything– Ripper, Terror TRAX, SWAT– and finish a special review. Then all of this crap with Dreamhost came up, and now I have to scramble to fix this particular disaster. This isn’t some stunt, and it’s not another example of classic procrastinating Spoony. This is a legitimate shitstorm, and I’m doing my best to weather it. My site is falling apart, and I’m not sure if I can fix it.
Even if I do move to a new server, it’ll probably end up being a $320/month dedicated server, and I seriously can’t afford it at this juncture. This site just does not produce that kind of revenue.

I have a friend who rents dedicated servers. I might be able to get him to get you a cheaper rate than 320.

NO SPOONY! Hold out until January! In January I’ll be starting my new job and I’ll be pulling almost 80k a year. I’d be more than happy to donate $300 a month at that point. I don’t spend my cash on anything. Don’t let TSE die!
Good luck Spoony. I would dearly miss this side and I hope you’ll find a solution, but I sure do understand that 300 bucks a month is simply too much money (hell if you add about 50% you get the budget I’m living on).
Maybe I’m going to hassle Kenzer & Co to give you your job back – and when they come crawling you can demand whatever you want and become a millionaire and … yeah sure as if that’s gonna hapen *sigh*

Spoony, we need you. Okay guys I know I’m not the only one who thinks this but I’m going to put it out there anyway. Spoony is too proud and uncomfortable to ask for money or help. I think it’s time we say “FUCK YOU SPOONY!”, and start a massive donation spree. If we all pitch in and stop being selfish mooches we can get him a good server. Plus, he’ll feel obligated to be a little more proactive with the site and stop procrastinating. Soon as I get a new bank account I’m donating fifty-five dollars and fifty-five cents to the cause. It never rains, but it sure does pour. Glad to see Scarlett’s gotten things up and running for the time being at least, that’s a small silver lining. Love your work Spoony, gotten a lot of entertainment from it, so for me at least it’s really easy to be patient. Sort it out when you can, as best you can, however you can. Cheers mate!

Keep trying to upload to Blip.tv if this lasts longer than we want. And at least update on TGWTG if it seems to be permanent. I think most of your users visit there at least.

spoony, i have an idea for you to make money if you have to get 320 a month. add a premium member club, or something, where you can post special videos and charge a few bucks a month. TGWTG does that, so why don’t you. also, really get sponsered by taco bell
